One of the things I have missed since the start of the pandemic is the ability to travel freely. Traveling exposes me to a world of different cultures. Learning about the traditions of others helps me feel more connected to the world while at the same time realize how very small I am in it. That connection to other cultures is what builds empathy between people and helps carry us through global tragedies such as the coronavirus. As Maya Angelou once stated:
I note the obvious differences
between each sort and type,
but we are more alike, my friends,
than we are unalike.
The future is uncertain and new travel plans seem like a distant dream but at least I can revisit my trips through the photos and videos I brought back with me.

Regardless of where or when my next trip will be I know that my favorite travel destination will remain the Commonwealth of Dominica, where I was born. Even though I love visiting and learning about new cultures there is something soothing to my soul about returning home to visit family and friends. Today marks the 42nd year of independence for the tiny island nation. I can’t wait to visit it again.
